Got here safe and sound. Ten minutes after we got into the hotel room a loud mob of protestors waving Palestinian flags came marching and chanting down the street in front of our window. It went on for fifteen minutes. Pretty
exciting. I almost got swept up in the moment, but had apparently forgotten to pack my Palestinian flag. (Found out
later, on CBS evening news via Orbit TV, that the Israeli army had Arafat pinned down in his office. Whew...at
least Israel is being sufficiently distracted with the West Bank that they will probably not invade Lebanon this week.)
Lots of malls to shop at, but very little buying going on. Stuff is expensive in the real world. Living in Cairo has lulled
me into a false sense of things being really cheap.
